Matt and Daddy Day

Today, Matt and I got to hang out just the two of us.

We started with breakfast at Chick-fil-A, then headed over to story time at the Arlington Public Library branch near our home. Matt got to sing, dance, jump, play a maraca and listen to about three books during the half-hour story time.

From there, we took our lives in our own hands and went to The Parks mall. Matt rode the carousel about eight times (he loves to ride the horses) and then we headed over to Build-a-Bear where he got to stuff a bear and take it home. As you can see from the picture below, he didn't make it home before he was fast asleep.

All and all: A fun morning. :-)

Matt enjoys shaking the maraca as they sing a silly song at story time at the library.

Matt adores the bunny on the carousel at The Parks mall.

Matt, explaining what he wants to do next with his new bear: Brown Bear.

We were only four minutes from the mall when Matt was passed out asleep in the car.

It's my vacation!

I had to use up some PTO (rough, I know), so I took the week off this week. I decided that I'd spend a whole day with Jordan and a whole day with Matt.

Today was Jordan's day, and I decided to take him to the Mayborn Museum on the campus of Baylor University in Waco to see the Lego Castle Adventure exhibit.

Jordan and I left about 8:15, gassed up the Camry, swung through the ATM and then headed for stop No. 1: the Czech Stop in West, Texas, just north of Waco. I got two breakfast sausage rolls and Jordan got a pig-in-a-blanket and a cookie.

We were at the Mayborn Museum about 20 minutes later and headed into the exhibit. Jordan had a blast. We also checked out several of the museum's permanent collection. Wow. Quite impressive for young kiddoes. We'll definitely be back for the permanent exhibits.

For now: Pictures from today:

Jordan building his creation. He was asked specifically to look natural.

Jordan joking around outside the Mayborn's entrance.

Jordan loved the transportation permanent exhibit at the Mayborn.

Jordan and I stopped by the Baylor bookstore on the way out of town. He had to have a BU football. He's not letting it far from his sight. :-)
